The Piramal Art Foundation was founded in 2014 by the Piramal family. The aim of this foundation is to preserve the artistic heritage of modern & contemporary Indian art. Over the last decade the Piramal Collection has grown to be one of the most significant collections of 19th and 20th century art from India. Keen to make this formidable collection of paintings and sculpture available to artists, academics and students alike, the Piramal Art Foundation chose to work with Kahani and Display House to curate this show for the Gallery . Art from the Piramal Collection.The foundation undertakes the collection, preservation and documentation of artworks for public display as well as for research and education.
The collection has grown to become one of the most important collections of modern art in the country and the artworks form a seminal representation of works by each artist. The collection as a whole tells a grand story of the history of Indian art from the early 18th century till present times. .It has been a project that brought us a great deal of learning at the studio and renewed our own appreciation for India’s artistic heritage.
