Art & Museum Spaces
2018 | Production & Concept
Organised under the aegis of the Urban Design Research Institute (UDRI) in association with the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Mumbai. The State of Architecture was a landmark exhibition that presented the trajectory of contemporary architecture in India against a larger historical overview since Independence. The exhibition not only mapped emerging practices but also reflected the aspirations they embodied, while sparking a wider conversation on architecture among professionals, patrons, and the public at large.
For this pioneering initiative, Display House was entrusted with the colossal task of transforming the curators’ vision into reality through end-to-end build and implementation. The project demanded close collaboration with multiple architectural institutions, firms, and designers and involved everything from prototyping large scale installations to meticulously executing the finest details. Our role extended far beyond fabrication, it was about precision, dialogue, and problem solving at every stage. Recognized for delivering the highest standards of execution, Display House was acknowledged for its ability to balance curatorial intent with flawless implementation, contributing meaningfully to this first-of-its-kind architectural exhibition in the country.

Where Tradition Meets Contemporary Craft
For Bhakti: The Art of Krishna, hosted at NMACC, Display House undertook the complete production of an exhibition showcasing rare works from classical pieces by Raja Ravi Varma to contemporary interpretations. Our challenge was to honor the sacred and historic while incorporating modern scenographic techniques. With delicate lighting, traditional textures, and gallery level conservation practices, the display paid homage to the spiritual core of the exhibit while presenting it in a contemporary visual language. Every production detail reflected reverence, balance, and curatorial intent.
